Predatory is how i would describe these “choose your own rates” places. High deductibles and the appeal of low rates drive stupid people into bankruptcy when the under-insured get into accidents and can’t afford the deductible or are lacking he necessary coverage.

First! Also, I’m new to buying insurance and I noticed in this article that you talked about legitimate car insurance companies. Are there illegitimate car insurance people I should look out for? I thought it was just like geico, progressive etc.
